Arthur's Seat -

Landmarks Artist in Residence - Exmoor National Park 2002-2003

An unique partnership between Exmoor National Park Authority, the National Trust, Artlife and Somerset Art Week. This residency included three elements:

Creating artworks in response to Exmoor. This included photography, text, film, creative questionnaires distributed to remote farmers and documentation of a week spent on a farm in the heart of Exmoor. This lead to a limited edition publication and touring exhibition.

Co-ordinating creative workshops with different groups of people from rural and urban backgroups. This emcompassed three, two day residential workshops in Exmoor with groups of young people. We explored the woods through a series of activities including digital photography, drawing and writing. This work led to the creation of treasure hunts on the second day.

Images and ideas generated from the workshops and my own images were combined to create a web based treasure hunt funded by the ENPA Sustainability Fund. This was accompanied by a 'real' treasure hunt in Horner Woods using clue markers made from stone, glass and copper. A real prize was designed with local silversmith Caroline Lytton for the winner of the webhunt.
